— Ireland's Most Southerly Town
Skibbereen is one of West Cork's most picturesque towns — it's also the capital of West Cork.
Skibbereen is "an Sciobirín" in Irish... translation "little boat harbour." The scenic town is about an hours' drive west from Cork City.
Attractions include the Skibbereen Heritage Center, located in the beautifully restored Old Gasworks Building, a weekly Farmers' Market, and fun annual festivals.
As Ireland's most southerly town, Skibbereen is within close proximity to sandy beaches, secluded coves and beautiful gardens. Lough Hyne Marine Nature Reserve, one of West Cork's most beautiful spots, is just a short away.
Dun na Sead Castle
Visit Dun na Sead Castle, located just outside of Skibbereen, in Baltimore, a historic maritime village in County Cork. The restored 13th century castle sits on top of a hill, overlooking the harbor. It is open to visitors June-September.
Visit picturesque Kilcoe (photo below) — it's located approximately half-way between Skibbereen and Ballydehob, in County Cork.
Skibbereen Farmers' Market
Skibbereen Farmers' Market takes place every Saturday
— 9:30am-1:30pm at the Old Mart Car Park in Skibbereen.

You can also find a selection of fun arts & crafts, antiques, books... and more — a fun place to buy local Irish souvenirs and special one-of-a-kind gifts.
