Cliffs of Moher, County Clare, West Coast of Ireland

Cliffs of Moher
The spectacular Cliffs of Moher have been described as a cross between the Grand Canyon and California's Big Sur. This not-to-be-missed natural wonder is located along Ireland's rugged west coastline (see map below), just south from the village of Doolin and just north of Lahinch in County Clare.

Viewing Platform
Views from the cliffs are absolutely breathtaking — the Viewing Platform on top of O’Brien’s Tower provides the best vistas — stretching west to the Aran Islands and north to Galway Bay, The Twelve Pins, the Maum Turk Mountains in Connemara and Loop Head to the South. It's no wonder that about a million visitors flock to Ireland every year to see the mighty Cliffs of Moher.

Visitor's Center
Stop by the Visitor's Center (discreetly nestled in a hillside) to find out more about the natural and historical significance of these world-famous cliffs.

The Cliffs of Moher make an easy day trip from Galway to the north and Limerick to the south (both about a 1 1/2 hour's drive) — Shannon International Airport even less. Dublin (on Ireland's East Coast) is approximately 3 1/2 hours away.

The Cliffs of Moher is also close to another of Ireland's most popular natural wonders
The Burren. Plan a fun day trip to see both of these spectacular attractions.
