"Bed-In for Peace" @ Amsterdam Hilton
The Amsterdam
Hilton Hotel, located a short walk from the old city center, Vondelpark,
is famous
for John Lennon and Yoko Ono's 1969 "Bed-in for Peace" which
was staged to protest the Vietnam War and to promote world peace.
John and Yoko spent their honeymoon in the hotel's Presidential
Suite (#702). Their highly-publicized "Bed-in" lasted
for one week (March 25-31, 1969)— in which press from around the world
were invited into their hotel room every day between 9am and 9pm. Shortly after
their stay in Amsterdam, John and Yoko wrote and recorded
the classic "Give Peace a Chance."
