Barri Gòtic (Gothic Quarter)
Explore Barri Gòtic, also known as
Barcelona's Gothic Quarter. The historic Gothic Quarter is a maze
of narrow winding cobblestone streets, tiny squares, gothic architecture,
little
cafes, bars, and shops — making it one of Barcelona's most
popular "must-see" venues. It's
a great place for strolling, sightseeing, relaxing at a little cafe...
and people-watching!
Located
in the center of
the old city
of
Barcelona — it stretches from Las
Ramblas to Via Laietana,
and from the Mediterranean
waterfront to Ronda de Sant Pere.

Pablo Picasso and Joan Miró
Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) developed his famous style while living
in Barcelona and spent many years of his life here. He lived and worked
in Barri Gòtic from
1895-1904.
Joan Miró was born and lived in the Gothic Quarter during his
youth.
El Call, the medieval Jewish Quarter, is also located
within Barcelona's Gothic Quarter.
Basilica de Santa Maria del Mar
Be sure to visit this elegant Catalan Gothic church, located in the Barri Gòtic
(Gothic Quarter) — it dates back to the mid-14th century. Its exceptional
acoustic conditions make it an ideal venue for classical concerts.

de la Seu — located in front of Barcelona Cathedral.

Bridge of Sighs
— "Eternal Love"
Walk under the medieval Bridge of Sighs — a
copy of the one in Venice — located
in the streets of the Gothic Quarter.
Follow in the traditions of Venice
and give your loved one a kiss under the bridge at sunset.
In Venice,
legend has it that if you kiss on a gondola at sunset under the
Bridge of
Sighs,
(Ponte
dei Sospiri)
you will
be
assured "eternal love" — we kissed there on our honeymoon
and have been happily married for over 25 years :)
