Bali Attractions

Bali is such an amazing destination — there's so much to do and see! Check out these fun attractions:

  • Batubulan (famous for its stone carvings, antiques and wood-carvings — Buddha figures carved in stone make great gifts and souvenirs. The area is also known for Balinese dance)
  • Batukaru (Pura Luhur Batukaru Temple, one of the biggest Hindu temples, is located at the foot of Mt. Batukaru in western Bali)
  • Bedugul (small mountain resort, 1400 meters above sea level, located near scenic Lake Bratan; Pura Ulun Danu Bratan water temple and panoramic views; nearby botanical gardens)
  • Besakih Temple (Bali's biggest Hindu temple... and the most sacred, is visited by tourists from around the world)
  • Bukit Sari Monkey Forest (located near the village of Sangeh in southwestern Bali; hundreds of sacred Balinese monkeys can be found hanging out in the trees — and the Pura Bukit Sari temple, located in the heart of the forest)
  • Celuk (gold & silver — famous for its community of silver craftsmen. The mile-long street is lined with silver jewelry factories and shops)
  • Denpasar (largest city and capital of Bali — home to temples, museums, local markets, night markets and the annual Bali Arts Festival)

  • Goa Gajah (known as "Elephant Cave" — is located in a steep valley near the town of Bedulu, close to Ubud. The elephant-shaped ancient caves feature Buddist carvings and inscriptions dating back to the 9th century)
  • Jimbaran (fishing village and tourist resort known for its magnificent sunsets, beachfront seafood restaurants and luxury hotels)
  • Kintamani (home to five volcanoes, including the sacred Mt. Agung. Spectacular views of Mt. Batur, an active volcano — and Lake Batur, the biggest lake in Bali)
  • Klungkung (the name means "happiness" or "beauty" — the smallest regency on the island was once home to Bali's Kings and Royal families)
  • Kuta (one of Bali's most popular tourist destinations — fun beach area!)
  • Nusa Dua (beautiful beaches and expensive resorts — the peninsula is located on the island's most southern tip)
  • Sanur (one of Bali's main beach resort areas, located on the southern coast)
  • Tabanan mountains and lower plains (volcanic mountains, rice paddies, black-sand beaches, tropical rainforests — panoramic views of southern Bali and magnificent sunsets)

  • Tanah Lot (Purah Tanah Lot Temple — its dramatic ocean-front location offers beautiful sunsets — only accessible at low tides)
  • Tenganan (The oldest Balinese traditional village was home to Bali's first inhabitants. It's also one of three areas that feature the world-famous Gringsing double ikat cloth — a rectangular cloth found throughout Indonesia)
  • Ubud (lots to see here, including lush rice paddies, magnificent temples and palaces, museums, outdoor markets, and traditional Balinese dance performances)
  • Uluwatu (Pura Luhur Uluwatu is one of Bali's most spectacular temples — it's perched on a cliff 600 feet above the sea on the Bukit peninsula)
