"Swim with the Dolphins"
— Blue Lagoon Island

Swimming with the Dolphins was the highlight of our last trip to the Bahamas. If you have the chance to experience a "dolphin encounter" — anywhere in the world — don't pass it up. It's well worth it and
the memories will last you a lifetime.

Dolphin in the water during "Swim with the Dolphins" at Blue Lagoon Island in the Bahamas

Visitors at Blue Lagoon's Dolphin Sanctuary can choose from one
of two exciting interactive
programs:

1. Swim with the Dolphins
The 30-minute "swim" includes touching, kissing, hugging, and dancing with the bottlenose dolphins. Highlights include the Human Hurdle (dolphin jumps over you), and the exhilarating Foot Push (dolphins propel you through the water...photo below) —
what a rush!

Note:
Ladies, we suggest that you wear a "one-piece" bathing suit...or be prepared to hang on tight to your bikini bottoms —
Alana speaks from experience!

2. Close Encounter
Interact with the dolphins from a waist deep platform. Enjoy playing, kissing, hugging and dancing with the dolphins.

Advanced Reservations
Be sure to make your dolphin reservations at least 3-6 months in advance — spaces are limited and sell out quickly, especially during major holidays and peak season. It's also one of the more popular excursions with cruise ship passengers (ships are docked at Nassau).

Boat Departures to Blue Lagoon Island
Boats depart from Paradise Island Ferry Terminal to Blue Lagoon Island at 8:30am, 10:30am, 1:30pm and 3:30pm. It is recommended that you arrive 30 minutes before your boat departure time and check in at the ticket booth.

Travel Tip
When planning your trip, look for flights and cruises that go to Nassau. Several cruise ships offer day trips to Blue Lagoon Island.

Sea Lion Encounters
Sea Lion Encounters
During your visit to Dolphin Encounters, be sure to visit the new Sea Lion Habitat. Six California Sea Lions (five females and one male) joined the marine mammal family at Dolphin Encounters on Blue Lagoon Island after surviving Hurricane Katrina and the destruction of their former home in Mississippi.
