Straw Market Shopping, Nassau, New Providence Island, Bahamas

Straw Market
No trip to the Bahamas would be complete without a visit to Nassau's Straw Market. This is one of the most popular, fun and best-known shopping areas in Nassau (and all of New Providence Island).

Straw Market Shopping, Nassau, New Providence Island, Bahamas

The giant open-air flea market and its rows of narrow stalls are filled with over 500 local vendors hawking everything from shell necklaces, t-shirts, straw bags and hats, to colorful sarongs, art, wood-carvings, and a variety of Bahamian souvenirs. It's a fun place to shop, bargain, and people-watch.

Located between Bay Street and Woodes Rodgers Walk, the market gets very crowded, especially when the cruise ships are in port — the earlier you get there, the better.
