Nassau
Nassau, the capital city of
The Bahamas, is located
on New Providence Island. Rich in history
and culture, Nassau is also the most popular duty-free shopping
destination in The Bahamas. Most of the beach resorts are found
at nearby Cable Beach and
Paradise
Island.
 Getting Around Nassau
and
New Providence Island
Nassau is a great walking city. If you want to see more
of the island, rent a car, take
a taxi,
or
hop aboard
a jitney. If you're feeling adventurous, take a self-guided tour
around the city or island — rent a jeep,
scooter or bicycle. Romantic horse-drawn carriage
rides are another fun alternative for seeing the sights.

Scenic boat trips offering views of Nassau Harbor and surrounding islands are
available to and from Blue Lagoon Island — boats leave the Paradise
Island Ferry Terminal several times a day — it's the only building between
the two bridges on Paradise Island. We recommend that you arrive 30 minutes before
your boat departure time and check in at the ticket booth.
