Opening Ceremonies for the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics began on August 8, 2008 (8.8.808). Closing Ceremonies took place on August 24, 2008. Both events were absolutely breathtaking — without doubt, our favorite of any Olympic ceremonies to date!

China's Best Olympic Performance
Chinese competitors won 51 Gold, 21 Silver and 28 Bronze medals in Beijing's 2008 Summer Olympic Games, finishing in second place, with a total of 100 medals — behind the United States (110 medals). It was China's best Olympic performance in its history.
