When working, The Queen divides
her time between London and Windsor, unless she's visiting overseas.
She spends a week in Edinburgh every year (Holyrood

Aberdeenshire, or Sandringham House, Norfolk.

Official Birthday: A
Saturday in June. The Queen's "official birthday" is marked each
year by Trooping
the Colour. The ceremony is also known as
the Queen's Birthday Parade — it's the biggest Royal event

*The

Two Most Famous Couples
in the World!
President
Barack Obama and First
Lady Michelle met
with Queen
Elizabeth and Prince Philip at Buckingham Palace in April 2009.
The two most famous couples in the world had afternoon tea together and exchanged
gifts.
Obama's
Gifts to the Queen
The Obamas gave the Queen a
specially engraved i-Pod filled with her favorite show tunes and
video footage and photographs of her 2007 trip to the U.S.
They also presented her with a rare
autographed songbook by Rodgers & Hammerstein. One of
the Queen’s favorite musicals is Rodgers and
Hammerstein’s "Oklahoma."
The Queen gave the Obamas a
silver-framed photograph of herself and Prince Philip.
The Royal Hug — Seen & Heard
Around the World!
During the Reception at Buckingham Palace,
the Queen placed her hand at Michelle's back — and Michelle reciprocated
with her arm around the Queen's shoulders. Because Royal
Etiquette dictates that NO ONE touches the Queen,
this unprecedented behavior caused a sensation around
the world — even
more so because the Queen initiated the "touching!"

Royal Etiquette
— Do's and Don'ts
Here are a few Protocol Tips if you ever have
the honor of meeting the Queen of England:
When the Queen enters the room, everyone
stands up.
At first meeting the Queen, address
her as "Your
Majesty" and
then "Ma'am." Whatever you do... don't call her Liz!
Don't turn your back on the Queen.
When drinking tea, don't slurp. And
when the Queen stops eating, everyone stops
eating!
No touching unless the Queen initiates
it — gentle handshakes are the norm when meeting her.
If you're a British Subject, men may bow and women curtsy,
although bowing and curtsying are not required of U.S. Citizens.
