Scenic Road
Take a leisurely walk or jog along Carmel's beautiful Scenic Road, located just off the far end of Ocean Avenue — its walking path begins at Eighth Avenue (about a five-minute walk from the beginning of Scenic Road).

Scenic Road — it's great exercise!

Several wooden/stone stairways are discreetly situated along the pathway— each one leads down
to the beach, so you can begin your walk along Scenic Road and jog back along the beach or visa-versa.

As Scenic Road curves at the end of the beach, the walking path ends, but you can still carry on walking — or driving — and enjoy stunning rugged coastline, Cypress trees, beach and ocean views.

As the road winds along the bluff, you'll see beautiful homes perched above the rocks.

Each turns brings another spectacular view — this makes such a great drive!

It's about 1.7 miles from the beginning of Scenic Road to the end of the road (overlooking
Carmel River State Beach).

Parking
Do what the locals do — take Eighth Avenue to the beach,
where it dead ends onto Scenic Road. It's not as busy as taking Ocean Avenue and it's much easier to find street parking, especially during weekends and peak tourist season — although parking is limited.
