Conveniently located on 4th Street in Berkeley, just minutes from Hwy 80, Café Rouge features a full bar, spacious high-ceiling dining room, meat market and oyster bar (oysters are offered on the half shell).

Famous for its delicious organic fresh meats and charcuterie, and organically-grown fruits and vegetables, it's no wonder that Café Rouge is one of Berkeley's most popular restaurants.

Mesquite Grilled Steak Frites with red wine shallot butter and French Fries - delicious. Cafe Rouge, Berkeley, CA

The Mediterranean/Californian menu changes every two weeks. During a recent visit, we enjoyed the Mesquite Grilled, tender juicy Steak Frites with red wine shallot butter and a stack of incredible skinny, crispy French fries (pictured above) — it was worth a trip to Café Rouge for this dish alone!

The bistro's wonderful soups and salads appeal to lighter appetites — Corn Chowder with fried Willapa Bay Oysters is hearty and tasty. And the colorful Shaved Zucchini and Avocado with pistachios and lemon vinaigrette really hits the spot (photos above).
