Oak Cellars Release Day, Napa Valley. The winery
is releasing its highly praised 2003 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Wine
is $100 per 750 ml bottle. Availability is limited to six bottles per person.
Tasting fee: $20 per person includes a complimentary Silver Oak wine glass.
Espresso
drinks, pastries, and an array of hors doeuvres will be served. Gates
at the Oakville and Geyserville facilities open at 9am. Tasting areas close
at 3:30pm.

Feb. 2 — Chinese New
Year's Mini Parade & Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony
with Mayor Gavin Newsom "2008 Year of the Rat",
Chinatown, SF. The Mini Parade takes place on Saturday, February 2nd at 10:30am — the
route begins at California Street and Grant Avenue and ends on Pacific Avenue
and Stockton Street. The Mini Parade will be a preview of what's to come in the Year
of the Rat. Come and see a 40-ft Dragon, Chinese Giant Puppets, the
Yellow River Drummers, the Emperor's Court and Costumed Performers as they all
wind their way down Grant Avenue in Chinatown. At the end of the parade, Mayor Gavin
Newsom will preside over a ribbon cutting ceremony.

New Year Flower Fair , Chinatown, S.F. Each year,
the Chinese New Year Flower Fair takes place the weekend
before the Lunar New Year holiday so that families can come
to the Fair and purchase their traditional holiday plants,
flowers — peach blossoms, narcissus, orchids, snapdragons
and chrysanthemums and fruits such as pomelos, oranges and
tangerines. These flowers and fruits are symbols of the reawakening
of nature for the new year, and are associated with happiness
and prosperity throughout the year.
