 Description & Atmosphere
We've waited a long time for a traditional New England-style
Seafood restaurant to open in Half Moon Bay. The Grand Opening
of Sam's Chowder House (on Friday, October 20, 2006) was well worth
the wait!

Sam's Chowder House (formerly
the old Anchorage restaurant) is owned by restaurateur
Paul Shenkman (photo below) — he also owns the popular Cetrella
Bistro in downtown Half Moon Bay.
 The
restaurant seats up to 125 people inside — large
picture windows offer diners dramatic ocean and marina views in
a casual setting.
Sam's 25-seat Oyster Bar is a fun place to
enjoy oysters, clams, lobster rolls and more...

Food
The popular cliff-side restaurant serves traditional New
England-style Seafood.

Sam's Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes are
delicious — crispy
on the outside and stuffed with fresh crab.
The New England Clam Chowder is also very good, and
lighter than most — it's also great for dunking crusty
bread. Ditto the fabulous Manhattan Clam Chowder.

The Maine Lobster Roll — Maine
Lobster sauteed in butter and served on a soft bun with
a side of aioli, with house made potato chips and coleslaw (photo
above) is something you won't see too often on the West Coast — it's
very popular on the East Coast.

For healthy appetites, you can't go wrong with the Fried Seafood
Combo — Calamari, Prawns and Crab Cake served with fries
and coleslaw. Both the Local Rock Cod and
the Alaskan
Halibut Fish & Chips (photo above) are delicious — and
almost as good as "across the pond" (England).
For lighter appetites (and especially when fresh crab is in season),
we recommend the Dungeness Crab Cocktail (photo above)
or the Dungeness
Crab Louis Salad. All meals come with a loaf of
crusty bread.
Other menu options include: Maine Lobster, Classic New England
Clambake, Seafood Platters, Chilled Seafood Bar, Fresh Fish Daily,
Soups & Chowders,
a variety of Fresh Salads, Sandwiches, Dungeness
Crab Roll, Pan Roasts and Stews, Crispy Fried Seafood.
Grilled
Steak, Pork Loin and Chicken are also offered on the menu,
for non-seafood lovers.
Leave room for dessert — Key Lime Pie, Apple & Pear
Crisp, Flourless Chocolate Cake, Exotic Gelatos and Sorbets,
Sam's Soft
Ice-Cream, Root Beer Float and more...
Wine, Beer & Champers
The restaurant also offers a nice selection of Wine, Beer
and Champagne. Cheers! Top

Ocean View Deck Seating
Enjoy al fresco dining on Sam's outdoor split-level deck, overlooking the ocean
and Pillar Point Harbor — the area seats up to 40 people.

The deck is also a fun place to relax over
a cocktail while enjoying the views — Sam's makes a "killer"
Bloody Mary. Cheers!

Relax in
an Adirondack chair, set on a bluff overlooking
the beach — the views are spectacular...anytime of the year.
On chilly days and nights, you can gather around the fire
pit
and snuggle
under warm blankets while enjoying a cocktail and admiring the
views.

 Fun Event Location
and
Panoramic
Ocean Views
The glassed-in restaurant features several rooms — all
with panoramic ocean views. Sam's is a fun place to bring your
friends, family and out-of-town guests.

It's also a great place to treat your Team
or VIP clients to lunch or dinner, especially if you're hosting
a nearby
off-site
event. Enjoy authentic "clambakes" during the summer
season.

Bar
Sam's bar is a fun place to hang out and people-watch. A
long mirror hangs over the bar, reflecting the magnificent
ocean views (photos below) — it's a nice touch :)

Of course you can always
turn around and look out the windows — either way, it's
pretty spectacular.
