Half Moon Bay State Beach Francis Beach

Francis State Beach
This is one of our favorite Half Moon Bay destinations.
The
beach and the scenic walking path
are
spectacular.
Francis State Beach is located just South of the
intersection of Highway 92 and Hwy 1 in Half Moon Bay. Look for
signs to Kelly Ave and Francis Beach (see address
and map below).
Beach Tips
Check Half Moon Bay weather before you
leave for the day. The fog can be very cold. Bring layers and leave
them in the car if you don't need them. Thick fog can roll in very
fast, at any time.
Get to the beach early, especially on weekends. The parking lot
fills up fast, particularly on warm, sunny days.

The State Beach is a wonderful place to go for a picnic.

Directions to Francis State Beach
From Highway 92 (West), turn left (South) onto Highway 1, turn west
on Poplar Street — follow signs to Francis Beach.

Bluff-top benches are conveniently situated
along the walkway— take
a moment to sit and reflect on life while taking in the fabulous
ocean and coastline views.

The walkways allows for easy
beach access — several sandy rocky
trails lead down to Francis Beach (photo below).

The Francis Beach Visitor's Center is a small
one-room building. However, there are lots of interesting books
and gifts from the Half Moon Bay/Coastside area.
