Scenic Coastside Trail
— Spectacular Ocean Views
The Coastside Trail is one of our favorite Half Moon Bay destinations
— we enjoy taking long walks here. Popular with
visitors and locals alike, the scenic trail offers
fabulous ocean and coastline views.
Running parallel to the Pacific Ocean, along the
top of the bluff
in Half
Moon Bay, the Coastside Trail extends
about two miles south of the Ritz-Carlton — and seven miles
north — to Mirada Road, just south of Princeton-by-the-Sea.
There's
a lot to see out here on the Coastal Trail — rugged
coastline, crashing waves, ocean views, sandy beaches, trees, wildlife...
and golfers too!

It's a great place to walk, bicycle, jog, or walk
your
dog. Fun people and bird-watching too!
The Coastside Trail offers public parking, picnic
areas and restrooms.
Directions to Coastside Trail
@ Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay
From Hwy 1, turn right on Miramontes Point Road (south of Highway 92) — follow
the road around to the Ritz-Carlton entrance.

Coastside Trail Parking
Look for the 25-space outdoor parking lot on the left side of Miramontes Road,
as you're driving up to the Ritz. It's open daily, between sunrise and sunset.
NOTE: Complimentary access to these parking spaces is for Coastside
Trail visitors
only — and is given upon request at the Ritz Greeter's Booth (pictured
above),
located
just
before the resort's main entrance.

Public Coastal Access Parking
at Ritz-Carlton
There's also underground Public Coastal Access Parking at the Ritz-Carlton — on
the second level, to the right of the resort's main entrance (prior to reaching
the Half Moon Bay Golf Links).

Coastside Trail South
Ocean Course @ Ritz-Carlton
The paved walking path winds alongside the
18th hole of the Old Course of the Half
Moon Bay Golf Links,
behind
the Ritz-Carlton resort,
continuing
alongside the Ocean Course — be on the lookout for stray golf
balls!

 The
south side of the Coastal trail is windy and hilly, so expect to
get a workout. On a clear sunny
day, you can see for miles — this has to be one of the most spectacular
views in Half Moon Bay.
The walkway also allows for easy beach access — steps
lead down to the beach below from the south side of the trail.

Coastside Trail North
The walking path to the north of the Ritz resort is more rugged,
especially the first part of the trail. It's great for bird-watchers — during
one of our walks, we spotted a Red-tailed Hawk.

The unpaved
trail runs seven miles (across the bluff and through the trees)
and
offers
sweeping
ocean views
along
the
way. Bluff-top
benches are conveniently situated along the walkway north of
the trail, near Poplar Beach Bluff — take
a moment to sit and reflect on life while taking in the fabulous
ocean and coastline views.
