NEW California State Record!

2011 HMB World Championship Pumpkin Winner
Leonardo Urena (being interviewed below) of Napa, CA (last year's runner-up) took Top Prize at this year's annual Half Moon Bay Championship Weigh-Off. His Giant Pumpkin tipped the scales at an impressive 1,704 pounds (169 pounds more than last year's winning pumpkin) — seting a NEW California State record!

Second place went to Brant Bordsen of Marysville, (he also placed second in 2010) with a 1,693-pound Giant Pumpkin. who had a 1,476-pound Giant Pumpkin. Jim Mathison from Napa (he placed 12th in 2010), took third place with his 1,554-pound winner. J. Hawkley of Napa, came in fourth with his 1,548-pounder, and R. Root of Citrus Heights CA (2010's winner) came in fifth with his 1,521-pounder.

This year's weigh-off (2011) set two new California State records.

"Most Beautiful Pumpkin" 2011
Eric Carlson of Portola Valley, CA won over the audience with his "Most Beautiful Pumpkin" based on color, shape and size — it weighed in at 286 pounds.

Ron Root of Citrus Heights, CA (2010's winner) took 5th place with 1,521-pound Giant Pumpkin.

Pumpkin Winner 2011
Farmer John of Half Moon Bay, took top prize for local Coastside Pumpkin Winner (he also won last year) — his pumpkin weighed in at an impressive 755 pounds (almost double his 2010 winning pumpkin).
