Every year, Half Moon Bay's World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off draws a bigger crowd than the year before — it's FUN for kids and big kids too!

Every October, on the Monday prior to Half Moon Bay's Art & Pumpkin Festival— usually early in the month.

Fun Pumpkin-Watching
Pumpkin growers — and their trucks filled with giant pumpkins and oversized gourds — usually start lining the streets behind the I.D.E.S. Grounds by 7:30am. It's is a fun place to hang out and pumpkin-watch while the giant pumpkins are loaded onto forklifts, prior to being weighed in.

Official Half Moon Bay Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off festival gear is available at the event. Past years have included complimentary coffee, juice and bagels (subject to change).

Fun Pumpkin Facts & Trivia
The winner of the very first Half Moon Bay Championship Weigh-Off in 1974 was a 132-pound pumpkin. In 1991, the Champion Pumpkin weighed in at a mere 602 pounds.

By 2010, over 13 Giant Pumpkins at Half Moon Bay's Championship Weigh-Off event tipped the scales at over 1,000 pounds!

In 2011, two NEW California State Records were broken — Half Moon Bay had the 2nd and 3rd biggest pumpkins in the world!

Did you know that pumpkins are grown all over the world?
Six of the seven continents can grow pumpkins, including Alaska. Antarctica is the only continent that they won't grow in.
