Cavallo Point at Murray Circle, surrounds
the grassy parade ground of a former Fort Baker
military post in Sausalito,
about five miles from San Francisco (just across the Golden Gate Bridge).
By Car from San Francisco
Cross the Golden Gate Bridge and take the Alexander Avenue exit. Stay right and merge onto Alexander Avenue. Take the first left onto West Bunker Road and stay in the right lane, following signs to Fort Baker.
By Car from the North Bay
From the North, take Hwy 101 South. Take the second Sausalito exit (south of the Waldo Tunnel). Turn right at the stop sign and continue under the highway to a second stop sign. Continue straight onto Alexander Avenue. Take the first left onto West Bunker Road and follow the signs to Fort Baker.
By Bike or on Foot from SF
Cross the Golden Gate Bridge, exiting at Vista Point. From the multi-use (east) path, go down the steps to cross under the roadway — you should see a small parking lot.
At the southwest corner of the lot, pick up the Golden Gate Vista Point trail (paved road) — it leads downhill back under the bridge to Horseshoe Cove. Note: It's approximately 2.5 miles from the bridge to Fort Baker).
