Evvia ****

420 Emerson Street
between Lyon & University
Palo Alto

Cuisine: Greek
Description & Atmosphere
We knew Evvia was going to be good, but didn't quite realize exactly
how good. The large dining room has inviting windows facing
out onto Emerson Street.
The restaurant is creatively decorated with a huge fireplace and
a mantel holding large copper trays and pots, along one wall. The
wall opposite, is dominated by an open brick grill. The open kitchen,
in the back of the room, churns out stunningly good Greek cuisine.
Food
Everything is so fresh and flavorful. If you're with a party of
four or more, we suggest you order a couple of dishes and share
them family-style. We recommend starting out with the Pikilia appetizer
a delicious combination of Dolmathes, Taramosalata, Tzatziki
& Melitzanosalata with Pita Bread a wonderful combination
of tastes.
The Classic Greek Salad is deliciously fresh and crisp. And, whatever
you do, don't miss out on the Vegetarian Moussaka it is by
far the best we've ever tasted, even better than the Moussaka
we enjoyed on our honeymoon in the Greek Islands. The Chicken Kabob,
served with light and fluffy Cretan Rice, is another menu standout.
