Description & Atmosphere
Betelnut is our favorite "Union
Street" restaurant. Terrific food
and service, exotic decor
and a
fun atmosphere makes this a great place to come with
friends, business associates, and out-of-town guests — it's
quite different from anywhere
else in
San Francisco.
The
bustling bar area opens up directly onto Union Street. It's
a fun place to come for a drink and people-watch, especially on
weekend evenings. The area features window tables
and
"al fresco"
sidewalk
seating.
A section of the main dining area and the long L-shaped
counter overlooks
Betelnut's busy open kitchen. Tabletops are uniquely decorated
with bamboo vases
filled with chopsticks.
Food
Betelnut's eclectic menu features incredible dishes
from all over Asia, including Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan,
Taipai, China
and Singapore.
Don't miss the amazing Garlic Szechuan Green Beans,
unless you have an interview or an important sales call afterwards
— it's loaded with garlic! The
Eggplant Nanking is sensational too.
Popular entrees include
the Dumplings and Noodle dishes. We also like the Minced
Chicken in Lettuce Cups, Imperial Spring Rolls, Smoked Seabass
with Ginger-Cucumber
Namasu and the Scallion Hotcakes.
This upscale restaurant offers authentic Asian beers and a good
selection of wines too half the wines are available by
the glass
and some are even available in
half-bottles.

Betelnut is chewed
