Description & Atmosphere
Sam Wo — a famous Chinatown "dive" and San Francisco
institution — was
featured in May 2007 as a "co-sponsor" to "Late
Night with Conan O'Brien in San Francisco" TV
show.
The restaurant has been around forever — well
over 100 years. Don't expect much in the way of decor or atmosphere.
When you walk in
the front door,
(right into their kitchen) you'll see
them prepping the food for the day.

 Climb the tiny and very
narrow staircase
(only room for one person at a time) upstairs to the
2nd and 3rd floor dining areas.
Both dining rooms are very small and narrow.
Windows overlook Washington Street in Chinatown.

Food
Sam Wo's Chinese food is classic and simple. Many diners
who frequent here having been coming back for years. And because
the restaurant stays
open six nights a week til 3am, it's a great
place
to grab
a
bite
in the
wee
hours of the morning.
