Takara Sushi & Seafood ***
22 Peace Plaza, #202
Cuisine: Sushi & Seafood
Description & Atmosphere
The Japanese word "takara" means "treasure" — and
that's exactly how we would describe this casual sushi restaurant,
located on the 2nd floor of Japantown's Miyako Mall.
Decor is simple, but the food really shines.
Takara's dining room seats up to 72 people and
offers booth and table seating
(with windows along one side).
A separate small Sushi Bar (photo below) —
Rooms — are located just off the main dining area.
Note: The restaurant has no air-conditioning — only
it can get a little
warm inside, even in the winter,
so dress coolly.
You'd expect "top-rate sushi restaurants" in Japantown, but Takara
is a cut above the rest — their White Sashimi Tuna just
melts in your mouth. This is some of the best sushi we've
eaten in San Francisco.
Takara serves critically-acclaimed Japanese Seafood and Rice dishes, Udon/Soba
Noodles, fresh Sashimi, Sushi and Tempura.
Special Lunch Bento Box combos (photos above and below)
are delicious and very reasonable.
During a recent lunch we enjoyed Miso Soup, Salad, Rice, White Sashimi
California Rolls and Shrimp and Vegetable
Private Tatami Rooms
Two Private Tatami Rooms are available for small
groups — one
room seats a minimum of six people,
the other room a minimum of eight
The rooms open
up to seat larger parties of approximately 15.
Reservations are recommended, especially on weekends. It's
very popular — at times there's a line out the door, but
the food is worth the wait.
Japantown Parking Garage;
limited street parking.
Special Lunch Bento Box
is very good value.
