Aquarium of the Bay
Aquarium of the Bay is the only aquarium
devoted exclusively to showcasing the marine life of San
Francisco Bay. The popular attraction is visited
people every year.
Conveniently located at Pier 39, near historic Fisherman's
Wharf, the aquarium is a FUN place to visit while you're in the
area. If you're a local, play tourist for the day — it makes
a FUN family day outing... and it's educational too!

The aquarium and nature center is home
to 20,000 local aquatic animals
(featuring more than 200 different species), including Sevengill
Sharks — the
Bay's largest predators — Bat
Rays, Leopard Sharks, Skate, Jelly Fish, Anchovies, Giant Sea Bass,
Rock Fish, Flat Fish, Eels, Starfish... and more!
If you like Jelly Fish, it's worth a trip
to the aquarium just to see these amazing Moon Jellies and Brown
"Under the Bay" Tunnel Vision
— Get an Up-Close View of Sharks!
Walk through 300 feet of crystal clear tunnels (holding over 700,000
gallons of filtered Bay water) and get an up-close view of marine
to San Francisco Bay — your kids will love watching the Sharks, Bat Rays
and other fish swim right over their heads! So close, you can almost touch 'em!
River Otter Gallery
The River Otter Gallery is home to otters Tahoe, Shasta, Baxter and Ryer. Tahoe is the most energetic of the otters - you'll know it's him if you see him swimming in the water chasing his tail! Feeding time takes place several times throughout the day.
Always a favorite with aquarium visitors, the "Touch the Bay"
exhibit space has two Touch Pools where visitors can touch
marine animals. Reach out to the Bat Rays and Starfish. FUN for the whole family!
This area features a variety of local and exotic land-dwelling animals, including Californian Kingsnakes, Skinks and Turtles. Enjoy animal interactions, hands-on science experiments
and special presentations.
Youth Group Sleepovers
in the Tunnels at Aquarium
of the Bay
Enjoy the opportunity to sleep just inches from sharks,
while species including the
mighty sevengill, leopard, spiny dogfish and angel sharks swim
overhead, along with nearly 200 species of other aquatic animals.
Sleepovers include a Guided Tour of the
Aquarium, a fun evening of naturalist-led activities and
a hands-on meeting and greeting
with select animals.
Giant Pacific Octopus
Highly intelligent, Giant Pacific Octopus grow
bigger and live longer than any other octopus species. Usually
color, they have an ability to change colors in an instant and
blend into their environment. Octopus are generally nocturnal,
so don't expect a
