Asian Art Museum
200 Larkin @ McAllister Street
Civic Center Plaza
(across from City Hall)
The Asian
Art Museum is one of our favorite San Francisco museums. One
of the largest museums in the Western world devoted exclusively to
Asian
art, it
houses nearly 15,000 treasures spanning 6,000 years of history,
representing
cultures
throughout
Asia.
Current & Upcoming Exhibitions
Visit Asian Art Museum's web site
for more info on Current and Upcoming Exhibitions and Collections.
Some of our favorite Past Exhibits have
included:
- Geisha:
Beyond the Painted Smile
- The Kingdom of Siam
- Tibetan Treasures
- Monumental Landscapes
of Li Huayi
- A Curious Affair:
The Fascination Between
East and West
- Later Chinese Jades: Ming Dynasty to early Twentieth Century

Cafe Asia
We really like Cafe Asia (pictured above) — it's a great place to grab
a quick (and delicious) bite before or after visiting the museum.
The
cafe offers a variety of hot and cold entrees (good salmon and rice dishes),
sushi, sandwiches, snacks,
and
desserts. Enjoy wine, beer, sake,
and authentic Asian teas. Entrance to the Cafe does not require paid
admission to the museum.
Asian Art Museum
Store
Shop for a variety of unique Asian Gifts — jewelry,
ceramics, paintings, cards, apparel, home décor, books, and music.
Allow plenty of time for browsing and shopping — there's a lot to see.
Open
during museum hours — entrance
to the museum store does not require paid admission.
