Asian Art Museum
The Asian Art Museum is one of our favorite San Francisco museums. One of the largest museums in the Western world devoted exclusively to Asian art, it houses nearly 15,000 treasures spanning 6,000 years of history, representing cultures throughout Asia.

The museum's four event spaces can accommodate groups of 40-400 for Seated Dinners and up to 1,200 for Receptions.


Asian Art Museum Store
Shop for a variety of unique Asian Gifts — jewelry, ceramics, paintings, cards, apparel, home décor, books, and music. Allow plenty of time for browsing and shopping — there's a lot to see.

Open during museum hours — entrance to the museum store does not require paid admission.

*Bali exhibit featured over 130 diverse artworks (many never seen before in the U.S.) ranging from woven palm-leaf images of the rice goddess to elaborately carved and gilded chairs — plus puppetry, gamelan performances, and Balinese masked dances.

Japanese Tea Ceremony
at Asian Art Museum
The Asian Art Museum offers a fun, informative and educational Japanese Tea Ceremony — held in the Japanese Tea Room (Japan Galleries, 2nd floor, South Wing). It's well worth a visit to learn more about this traditional Japanese custom.

Tickets can be purchased online. Fee includes Museum admission.

1pm and 2:30pm seatings


Diner inside Cafe Asia, at the Asian Art Museum, San Francisco, CA

Cafe Asia
We really like Cafe Asia (pictured above) — it's a great place to grab a quick (and delicious) bite before or after visiting the museum.

The cafe offers a variety of hot and cold entrees (good salmon and rice dishes), sushi, sandwiches, snacks, and desserts. Enjoy wine, beer, sake, and authentic Asian teas.

Entrance to the Cafe does not require paid admission to the museum.
