Exploratorium Science Museum
NEW Location at Pier 15 opened April 2013

Exploratorium Museum at Pier 15 on Embarcadero

Hands-On Museum of Science, Art and Human Perception
The Exploratorium's spectacular new home on Pier 15 stretches 800 feet over San Francisco Bay. Opened on April 17, 2013, the museum is three times larger that its original building (formerly located at the Palace of Fine Arts) and features much more outdoor space, offering breathtaking views of S.F. Bay. The hands-on interactive Exploratorium Museum of Science, Art and Human Perception was designed for kids and the "kid in you"... it's a FUN place to explore when visiting San Francisco.

Together, the galleries feature hundreds of interactive, explore-for-yourself exhibits, fun hands-on activities, interesting demos, talks, films, and performances by artists, scientists and educators. Be sure to visit the Bay Observatory Gallery (pictured above), featuring floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking beautiful San Francisco Bay, Treasure Island and the Oakland Bay Bridge.

Bring out the kid in you at the Shadow Box exhibit where you can freeze your shadow on the wall. Or even better, head over to the Recollections exhibit or what we like to call the "Psychedelic Room" (watch video below) where you can create vivid, life-size, computer-generated images of yourself moving and dancing in psychedelic colors on the wall— it's a blast from the past!
