"Friday Nights at the de
Young"
If you're looking for something different
to
do
on
a Friday night, head over to the de Young Museum in Golden Gate Park.
Mingle over cocktails
and enjoy a fun evening of art, culture and entertainment — the
entire
museum is open until 8:45pm.
"Friday Nights at the de Young" features
a mix of live music, poetry, films, dance, art-making demos, lectures,
docent tours and interactive kids activities.

During a Friday night visit, we enjoyed listening
to a live band while sipping wine and people-watching.
Get together with family, friends or business associates and
enjoy
a
fun night
out.
 Tip
Seating is
limited, so arrive early if you don't want to stand. For the best
view of the entertainment (and fun people-watching) climb the
main staircase (located in the
lobby area, pictured below) and peer over the balcony.

Friday
Nights 'til 8:45pm
"Friday Nights at the de Young" runs from mid-January
thru' Thanksgiving. The popular Friday Night events draw between
1,500-5,000+ people.
 No-Host Bar
No-host cocktails are available at the bar,
set up near the stage. Just
look for the massive artwork that dominates the main room (pictured
below) — it
makes a great backdrop for the featured entertainment.

Note:
Enjoy walking through the galleries and visiting the exhibits,
but leave your drinks behind. Beverages are only allowed
in the lobby area and cafe.

Tower Observation Floor
The Tower Observation Floor is
also open during "Friday Nights at
the de Young." Get in line early to take the elevator to the 9th
floor — it's popular with visitors and the lines can get longer as
the night goes on. The incredible panoramic views make a great backdrop for
picture-taking.
If you're looking for another FUN
event, we highly recommend "Nightlife" at
the California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park (located
just across from the de Young Museum). It offers more of a party
atmosphere (DJ music and dancing), younger crowd with no kids (21
and over) — visitors get a chance to mingle over cocktails
while exploring the museum, aquarium and its exhibits.
