Fisher Art Collection
— Only in San Francisco
The Fisher Art Collection (from Gap founders Doris and Donald Fisher) is one the world's finest private collections of modern and contemporary art. The collection was a family treasure to the Fisher's and now they're sharing it with the city of San Francisco — at the SFMOMA (San Francisco Museum of Modern Art). It's the first time that this collection will be displayed to the general public.
New Wing at SFMOMA
The Fisher Collection, featuring more than 1,100 works by iconic 20th century artists, will be showcased (during the next 100 years) in a new wing that will be built as part of SFMOMA's expansion — the expected completion date for the expansion is early 2016.

"Calder To Warhol:
Introducing the Fisher Collection"
The first of these exhibits — "Calder to Warhol: Introducing the Fisher Collection" — featured more than 160 artworks by iconic 20th century artists — Alexander Calder, Chuck Close, Ellsworth Kelly, Anselm Kiefer, Roy Lichtenstein, Agnes Martin, Gerhard Richter, Cy Twombly, Andy Warhol, and many more!
The exhibit ran from June 25-September 19, 2010. One of the largest exhibitions ever presented at SFMOMA — the collection took up the entire top two floors of the museum, including the Rooftop Sculpture Garden.
