Journey to the Stars
"We've always had a dream of developing a space tourism business and Paul Allen's vision, combined with Burt Rutan's technological brilliance, have brought that
dream a step closer to reality.

Sir Richard Branson, Virgin Galactic

Virgin Galactic founder, Sir Richard Branson and aviation legend, Burt Rutan

Virgin Galactic, a new company established by Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Group, announced plans to build — and launch — the first of Virgin’s fleet of Spaceships — the VSS Enterprise, a spaceship designed to carry fare-paying pioneers on a journey to the stars.

Virgin Group has entered into an agreement to license the technology to develop the world’s first privately funded spaceships dedicated to carrying commercial passengers on space flights. The technology is currently owned by a Paul Allen company, called Mojave Aerospace Ventures, and was originally developed to fulfil Paul Allen’s vision of building the world’s first privately funded, reusable space vehicle SpaceShipOne.

SpaceShipOne, which was solely funded by Paul G. Allen, was designed by aviation legend Burt Rutan and built by his company, Scaled Composites.

SpaceShipTwo
In July 2009, at the world's largest private air show in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Richard Branson took his first flight in the mothership which will launch Virgin Galactic's space tourism and science customers into space. The space vehicle — known as VMS Eve — is designed to launch SpaceShip Two above heights of 50,000 ft. VMS Eve will make its first "captive carry" flight with SpaceShip Two attached by the end of 2009.

Virgin Galactic
Virgin Galactic will become the world’s first commercial space tourism operator.

Virgin Galactic, a new company established by Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Group, announced plans to build — and launch — within three years the first of Virgin’s fleet of Spaceships — the VSS Enterprise, a spaceship designed to carry fare-paying pioneers on a journey to the stars.

Within five years, Virgin Galactic will have created over 3,000 new astronauts from many countries. Many of these countries have not had the funds to date to compete with the government funded space programs of the super powers.

Subject to appropriate government approvals, Virgin Galactic plans to construct launch pads for commercial space ships in a number of countries over the next few years.

Flight Duration
The flight will last about two and a half hours. During this time you will experience about five minutes of weghtlessness.

Location
Space flights will launch from New Mexico

Space Travel Cost
A $200,000 Deposit is required to make a reservation.

As of 2008, the company has signed up 150 passengers.
