Oscar Night America
Party — Hosted Viewing Parties in 50 Cities
Oscar Night America brings the Red Carpet
and Live Oscar Broadcast directly to 50 cities nationwide. Many
of the Oscar Night Parties are black-tie affairs, others are
less formal. Rent a designer dress, jewelry and accessories. Some events
ask
partygoers to dress up as famous couples, others feature limo arrivals and walks
down the red carpet with
local celebrities and photographers ("paparazzi") and press
interviews
for
arriving guests — just like the real Hollywood event!
If you're interested in attending
an "Oscar Night America Party" in your city,
you can
purchase tickets by contacting the party host in your area.

Your
House — "Oscar Parties"
"Favorite Movie Star" — "Movie-Themes"— "Oscar Black Tie, Blue
Jeans, Red Carpet"
Invite your friends over for an Oscar Party at
your house. Be creative and make it fun:
- Ask guests to dress
as their "Favorite
Movie Star or Movie Character"
-
Host a "Movie-Themed" Oscar Party - create special themed menus and
decorations inspired by Oscar-nominated movies (travel, 50's, 60's, sci-fi, romance)
- Make it a Formal "Black-Tie" event - chilled martinis, flowing champagne
& strawberries
- Host a Semi-formal "Black Tie, Blue Jeans, Red Carpet" - give guests the option
of dressing "up or down"

"Oscar
Bash & BYOB"
Better yet...keep your Oscar Party simple — make it a fun "Oscar
Bash & BYOB" and
dress "Casual
Chic." Whip up something easy
for a large group and have everyone bring
a bottle of wine... or whatever they like to drink.

"Oscar Pot
Luck"
If you're on a
budget, host a casual "Oscar
Pot Luck Party" — make a big batch of
Popcorn and have everyone bring a dish (appetizer,
salad, entree, or dessert).

2013 Best Picture Nominations
In January 2012, the rules changed to allow anywhere from 5-10 Best-Picture Nominees (9 movies were nominated that year... and again in 2013). Previously (in 2010 and 2011), the Oscars switched from five Best-Picture Nominees to 10, returning
to the traditions of the 1930s and '40s. The broadened movie field
may now include Documentaries, Foreign-Language Films, Animated
Movies,
Musicals
and Comedies.
Academy Award nominations were announced on Thursday, January 10th at 5:30am.
2013 Best Picture Nominees:
- Amour
- Argo
- Beasts of the Southern Wild

Monterey
County Film Commission
If you love movies, you've likely been to a Monterey County Film Commission "Big Night Gala" — their annual celebration of film-making and the Academy Awards Fundraiser they've held for the past 21 years. In 2012, they proposed a different idea: Stay at home with Oscar! Instead of all the expense of going out (new dresses, shoes, tuxes, limos, ticket prices), it was suggested that you stay at home and watch the Academy Awards in the comfort of your home and consider making a contribution directly to their non-profit organization — your donation went to a good cause that worked to boost the local economy in communities through on-location film production.
