Conch Republic
Key West is known as the Conch Republic — everything is named after the Conch Shells. Everyone born in Key West are called "Conchs" — if you are a tourist and moved here, you're a "Fresh-Water Conch." Popular island foods include Conch Chowder, Conch Meat and Conch Fritters. There's even an annual Conch Blowing Contest — sometimes referred to as the "Conch Honk!"

Best Time to Visit Key West
Located between the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico, Key West enjoys moderate year-round temperatures.

Although Key West is considered to be a year-round destination, the best time to visit is late Winter and Springtime (Jan-Apr).
