Martin Luther King Jr Monument
On October 16, 2011, President Barack Obama dedicted a memorial honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. — it's the first monument on the National Mall dedicated to a non-President and to an African American.

The 30-ft-high statue of the civil rights leader (by Chinese sculptor Lei Yixin) is located on the National Mall, between the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials in Washington, D.C. Quotations from MLK are carved into the statue's pink granite — and it is surrounded by 182 cherry blossom trees.

MLK Memorial Hours
The MLK Memorial is open to the public 24/7. Rangers are on duty to answer questions from 9:30am-11:30pm daily.
