Free Attractions
While many of London's museums and galleries are free, most museums also
have Special Exhibitions that do charge admission.
Must-See Museums
in Trafalgar Square
Two must-see museums are located just steps from Trafalgar Square — The National Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery.
London's National
Portrait Gallery is home to the "Largest Collection of
Portraiture in the World." The Gallery features over 1,000 Portraits
including Henry VIII, Florence Nightingale, The Beatles, and
the Queen of England.
In Feburary 2010, we visited the museum to see the the first double portrait of Princes William and Harry — plus paintings of other Royals and pics of the late Princess Diana with her sons... and Prince Charles and the boys.
The Churchill War Rooms — a permanent
exhibition
housed
within the historic Cabinet War Rooms — is the world’s
first major museum dedicated to life of Winston Churchill.
These top-secret bomb-proof underground
Cabinet War Rooms protected Prime
Minister Winston Churchill,
his War Cabinet, and Chief Military Advisors against air attacks
during
World War II.
