Famous Paris Landmark
The Eiffel Tower is one of the
most recognized structures in
the world. Built by Gustave Eiffel
in 1889, the tower
stands at
1,056 feet — making it the tallest monument in
Paris. On a clear day, you can see up to 40 miles away.
For the best view of the Eiffel Tower, walk up
to it through the Champ-de-Mars Gardens. Go early or later
in the day, when it's not
so crowded.
120th Anniversary
In May 2009, the Eiffel Tower celebrated its 120th
Anniversary with a series of FUN celebrations taking place throughout
the year.
Panoramic Paris Views
Each of the Tower's three levels offer spectacular
views of the city.
Costs vary, depending on which level you take. We recommend
you take
the elevators to the top of the Eiffel Tower for the most panoramic
views of Paris.
Elevators to the Top
Stairs will take you up to the tower's second floor, but
not the top. Three elevators go up to the
first and second floor.
To reach the top of the Eiffel Tower, you
must take another elevator from the second floor. Be prepared to
wait,
especially during peak tourist season. Pass the time people-watching — it's
worth the wait!
Eiffel Tower Ice-Skating Rink
During the holiday season — on the first floor platform of the
monument, 188 feet above the ground — visitors and locals alike
can enjoy skating on the Eiffel Tower's scenic ice-rink. The rectangular
rink is a little larger than a tennis court and holds approximately 80
skaters at a time. Admission and skate rentals are free after paying
the Eiffel Tower's entry fee.
