Carmel — A Shopper's Paradise
Carmel is a shopper's paradise. Although Ocean Avenue is
most popular with shoppers,
we prefer Carmel's little side
streets and its secluded courtyards and alleyways — they're
crammed with quaint specialty shops, boutiques, jewelry stores,
Mom & Pop coffee shops.
If you're looking for something unique, be sure to check out
de Luz, located on Delores
and Seventh Avenue.
The store carries a variety of
fine gifts, from bath products and linens
Popular items include one-of-a-kind embroidered
dish towels — name
and design of your choice can be embroidered in an hour; adjustable
cooking aprons (for men, women and children); and the mini /
giant pink heart "love soaps" — recently featured
Favorite Things" TV show.

Be sure to stop by Carmel's "Cottage
of Sweets" especially if you have a sweet-tooth. Located
on Ocean Avenue (photo left and top) the tiny shop carries
English candies, custom
chocolates and fudge. Yum!
Southeast Asian Artifacts
Conway of Asia, located opposite
The Tuck Box on Delores, features an impressive selection of
Southeast Asian Artifacts,
Persian Rugs and
custom one-of-a-kind jewelry.
TV chef/host Rachel Ray recently stopped
by here while filming a Carmel update for her travel cooking show.
Cheese & Wine
The Cheese Shop Carmel
Plan a romantic picnic — stop at
Carmel's Cheese Shop for over 300 cheeses and 850 wines.
For more traditional shopping, Carmel Plaza located at the beginning of
Ocean Avenue, between Junipero & Mission
has over 40 shops and
restaurants, spread out over three levels. If you're staying in Carmel,
most of the shops
and art galleries are within easy walking distance, so you don't have to
worry about parking.
