Fun Pumpkin-Watching
Pumpkin growers — and their trucks filled with giant pumpkins and oversized gourds — usually start lining the streets behind the I.D.E.S. Grounds by 7:30am.

It's is a fun place to hang out and pumpkin-watch while the giant pumpkins are loaded onto forklifts, prior to being weighed in.

The winner of the very first Half Moon Bay Championship Weigh-Off in 1974 was a 132-pound pumpkin.

In 1991, the Champion Pumpkin weighed in at a mere 602 pounds.

By 2008, the Winning Giant Pumpkin (pictured below) weighed in at an impressive 1,528 pounds — whatever they're feeding these pumpkins, it seems to be working!
