Ano Nuevo State Reserve
Nuevo State Reserve is located west
of Highway 1, about 25 miles south of Half Moon Bay. The Reserve
is the largest mainland breeding colony of Elephant
Seals and the only
Natural Seal Habitat
in North America. Today,
over 3,000 Elephant Seals
come here annually to "Birth," "Breed" and "Molt."
Bean Hollow State Beach
Bean Hollow State Beach
is located 17.5 miles south of Half Moon Bay and 3 miles south of Pescadero
on Highway 1.
Butano State Park
Butano State Park is located in a secluded redwood-filled
canyon, on the San Mateo Coast, off Highway 1 — about 4.5 miles
southeast of Pescadero.
Pescadero Beach is located 14.5 miles south of Half
Moon Bay on Highway 1.
Pescadero Marsh Natural Preserve, a popular spot
and other naturalists, is located across the highway from Pescadero
Beach. Note: There are more than 150 species of birds at the Preserve.
Pigeon Point Beach
Pigeon Point Beach is located on Highway 1, north
of Pigeon Point Lighthouse in Pescadero.
Sam McDonald Park
Sam McDonald Park is located approximately three
west of La Honda on Pescadero Road.
Scenic Views &
Heading south from Pescadero along the Pacific
Coast Highway (Hwy 1), there are miles of spectacular scenery, with
rolling hills, rugged bluffs and panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean — and
a lighthouse perched on a cliff, overlooking the central Coast.
