1906 San Francisco Earthquake
April 18, 2006 marks the 100-year anniversary of The Great San Francisco Earthquake and Fire. Today, it still ranks as one of the most significant earthquakes of all time.

1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake
This was the strongest northern California earthquake in in recent memory

all-time favorite movies. It stars Clarke Gable, Jeannette MacDonald and Spencer Tracy.

The MGM musical features the famous SF song "San Francisco," which became one of two official city songs on May 15, 1984.

The movie is shown every April 18th at the Balboa Theater in San Francisco in commemoration of the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake
and Fire.

During the 1906 Earthquake,
Lotta's Fountain became a central meeting place for families and survivors. The San Francisco landmark is located on the corner
of Kearny and Market streets.
