OK... so we watched Guy Fieri from the Food Network TV Show "Diners, Drive-In's and Dives" as he munched down — and raved over — one of Joe's famous hamburgers (or as owner Joe likes to call them, "Fresh Ground Steaks."

Always on a quest to find the perfect hamburger, we set out for Joe's Cable Car Restaurant (located in San Francisco's Mission District) to taste for ourselves. Judging from the crowds inside — and the line out the door — we weren't the only "hamburger-lovers" who watched Guy's TV show!

The casual restaurant offers booth and table seating. Decor is somewhat whimsical. Fieri describes the neon lights inside the restaurant as a "little Vegas" — Joe says the theme is "cheerful." Whatever... the burgers are sure to bring a smile to your face :)

Don't ask for your burger well-done (even if you're a Brit like me) — they prefer to serve them medium-rare, unless you specify otherwise. We compromised — one medium (pictured below) and one medium-well (that would be mine) and both tasted absolutely delicious!
