Out The Door (the Slanted Door's sister restaurant) recently opened at Westfield San Francisco Centre — now you don't have to go all the way to the Ferry Building to enjoy chef Charles Phan's great food!

Inside Out the Door restaurant located at Westfield San Francisco Centre's upscale Food Court (basement level)

Located in the centre's upscale Food Court (basement level), the casual-style restaurant seats up to 138 people — we like the booth seating along the sides of the dining room.

"Take-Out" counter at Out the Door at Westfield San Francisco Centre

"Take-Out" is also available — just place your order at the counter (photo above) — a vibrating pager lets you know when your order is ready. This works well if you want to grab a quick bite in a more casual setting (eat at the Food Court tables, located just outside the restaurant), or take your food home.

Food
Like the highly-acclaimed Slanted Door (at the Ferry Building), the Vietnamese cuisine here is just as fabulous.

Our favorite starters include savory Crispy Imperial Rolls with shrimp, ground pork, tree ear mushrooms and glass noodles, wrapped in lettuce leaves and served with a dipping sauce — as Rachel Ray would say..."Yum-O!"

Ditto the Fresh Vegetarian Spring Rolls with tofu, shiitake mushrooms, cabbage, mint and peanut sauce or the Spring Rolls with shrimp and sliced pork — both light and tasty.

Menu standouts feature the Petrale Sole with turmeric, scallion, fresh dill and pineapple-anchovy sauce— don't worry...you can't taste the anchovy! And the Lemongrass Tofu with fresh shiitake mushrooms, pressed tofu and roasted chili paste really complements the fish.

We also recommend the Steamed Buns (Chicken and Vege); Spicy Japanese Eggplant with Coconut Milk, and the Lemongrass Chicken with yellow onions, jalapenos and dried red chili.

Other menu offerings include Niman Ranch Beef, Crispy Half Duck, Curried Chicken, BBQ'd Niman Ranch Pork Spareribs...and a selection of Sandwiches, Salads and delicious Vermicelli/Noodle Plates.

Organic and sustainable products are used wherever possible.

Beer, Wine, soft drinks and juices are available.
