Description & Atmosphere
Thanks Dave, Gill and Vaughan for recommending Uncle Nick's Greek Cuisine. What a great little "find." This popular neighborhood gem is conveniently located just a short walk from Manhattan's famous Restaurant Row and the Theater District.

Reminiscent of the Greek tavernas we frequented in Santorini, the casual, family-owned restaurant has an upbeat festive atmosphere and a devoted following of diners — both tourists and locals alike. During one visit we met a local couple who eats at Uncle Nick's faithfully every week. We try to dine here whenever we're in town.

Food
Food is prepared with homestyle care and served family style — this works especially well for groups of four or more — so you can try a little taste of everything. You can make a meal of the appetizers and salads alone... or at least WE could!

Greek 4-Dip Appetizer - Tzatziki (yogurt, garlic & cucumber), Taramosalata (Greek-style caviar spread), Baba Ghanoush (eggplant) and Skordalia (creamy Potato-garlic) with Pita Bread for dipping — a must-have for garlic-lovers!

During several visits, we split an amazing "and addictive" Greek 4-Dip Appetizer (pictured above) — Tzatziki (yogurt, garlic & cucumber), Taramosalata (Greek-style caviar spread), Baba Ghanoush (eggplant) and Skordalia (creamy Potato-garlic) with Pita Bread for dipping — a must-have for garlic-lovers!

Another popular starter is the Fried Cheese Flambée — the flames get everyone's attention as the dish is carried to your table; it's quite a sight!

Uncle Nicks' varied menu selection includes traditional Greek appetizers and entrees — Spanakopita, Moussaka, Vegetable Moussaka, Pastitsio and a variety of Kebobs (the Gyro Plate is very good), Fresh Seafood (Grilled Fish is the House Specialty), Soups, and incredible Salads.

Delicious Greek Salads include tasty Dolmas — we suggest you order a "small" if you're splitting it between two people (pictured above)... the large one easily feeds four.

Delicious Grilled Whole Fish Flounder at Uncle Nick's Greek Cuisine in NYC

The whole Grilled Flounder is some of the freshest and tastiest fish we've had in NY... and it's big enough for at least four people, so come with an appetite! If you're a little rusty at filleting fish, ask your waiter to make sure your fish is filleted prior to serving your meal :)

Uncle Nick's
— Heaven in Hell's Kitchen

Uncle Nick's Greek Cuisine was one of the first restaurants in the area to become what was then known as the "Hell's Kitchen" neighborhood — today it's also referred to as the Clinton neighborhood (no relation to our former President).

Uncle Nick's Greek Cuisine is a FUN place to party!

Uncle Nick's is a FUN restaurant for a party — the back semi-private dining area works well for larger groups. Tables in the front dining room are quite close together and noise levels can be high, especially during peak dining times, so don't expect intimate conversation.

Heavenly Desserts
If you have room, finish your meal off with a fabulous dessert — Baklava, Uncle Nick's Famous Rice Pudding, Creme Caramel, Yiaourti (homemade yogurt, served with honey & walnuts), and Galaktoboureko (Greek Custard Cream wrapped in Filo).
