Central Park Lake is also home to the beautiful Central

Festivals & Events
at the Great Lawn
During the summer — May thru' Labor
Day — the Central Park Conservancy hosts a number of
Free Concerts and musical events.
The New
York Philharmonic and the Metropolitan Opera each
give two FREE performances here every summer.
Some of the city's biggest outdoor events, including
concerts by Elton John, Diana Ross, Simon and Garfunkel, and
Luciano Pavarotti have taken place at the Great Lawn. At
the northeast corner, there are four half-courts for basketball
and two volleyball courts, and an 1/8 mile track surrounding the
courts.

West Drive. The Center has 30 tennis courts, reputed
to be among the best in New York and one of the best bargains
in town.

Central Park Hours
Central Park is closed to traffic Mon-Fri 10am-3pm & 7pm- 10pm,
Weekends 7pm Fridays to 6am Mondays. The Park is officially closed between 1am-6am.
Conservatory Garden
— The
Gardens of Europe in Manhattan
The Conservatory Garden is located on the
East Side, from 104th-106th Streets — enter at Fifth Ave & 105th
Street or 106th Street gate inside Park)
The six-acre Conservatory Garden is Central Park's
only formal garden. It is in fact three gardens representing different
landscaping styles: Italian, French, and English.
The Italian-style garden sits just inside the
entrance, the classical French-style garden is
to the north, and the beautiful English-style
garden is
located to the
South. Enjoy strolling through these beautiful gardens
year-round as the season changes.
Note: Check out the walkway under
the wrought-iron wisteria pergola (on the west side of the Italian
garden) — there are
medallions inscribed with the names of the original thirteen states.

Victorian Gardens Amusement
Park — Fun for Kids

The Victorian Gardens Amusement Park is located on the East Side, between 62nd
and 63rd Streets.
Opened in 2003, this whimsical family amusement park features
12 rides, fun games, live interactive shows, hula-hooping, dancing
and singing.
During the weekends, kids can enjoy face-painters and balloon-sculptors.
