It's definitely worth a visit to this unique hands-on museum, infact
you'll probably want to spend at least a couple of hours here. The
museum has collected and preserved over 100,000 Television and Radio
programs, each chosen for their artistic, cultural and historical
significance. The collection covers more than 75 years of Television
and Radio history from News, Public Affairs Programs, and
Documentaries, to the Performing Arts, Children's Shows, Sports,
Comedy Shows and Advertising.
Our journey began back in time (or in this case,
into the future) watching the unaired Star Trek pilot. We
also chose the premieres of Cheers and Hawaii Five-O.
Other selections included two classic performances on The Ed
Sullivan Show Elvis Presley's 1956 debut and the Beatles
1964 U.S. debut which incidentally are the two most requested
shows in the museum. Finally, we listened to Abbott and Costello's
famous radio broadcast of Who's on First.
Museum
Hours
Open Tues-Sun 12pm-6pm, until 8pm Thurs and 9 pm Fridays (theaters
only). The Museum is closed on Monday, New Year's Day, Independence
Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
