— Famous Paris Landmark
The Eiffel Tower is one of the
most recognized structures in
the world. Built by Gustave Eiffel in 1889, the tower
1,056 feet — making it the tallest monument in
Paris. On a clear day, you can see up to 40 miles away.
For the best view of the Eiffel Tower, walk up
to it through the Champ-de-Mars Gardens. Go early or later
in the day, when it's not
Panoramic Paris Views
Each of the Tower's three levels offer spectacular
views of the city.
Costs vary, depending on which level you take. We recommend
the elevators to the top of the Eiffel Tower for the most panoramic
views of Paris.
Elevators to the Top
Stairs will take you up to the tower's second floor, but
not the top. Three elevators go up to the
first and second floor. To reach the top of the Eiffel Tower, you
must take another elevator from the second floor. Be prepared to
especially during peak tourist season. Pass the time people-watching — it's
worth the wait!
In May 2009, the Eiffel Tower celebrated its 120th
Anniversary with a series of FUN celebrations taking place throughout

During the holiday season — on the first floor platform of the
monument, 188 feet above the ground — visitors and locals alike
can enjoy skating on the Eiffel Tower's scenic ice-rink. The rectangular
rink is a little larger than a tennis court and holds approximately 80
skaters at a time. Admission and skate rentals are free after paying
the Eiffel Tower's entry fee.

Bastille Day (a French national holiday, referred to as La Fête de la Bastille or La Fête Nationale) takes place on July 14 every year — to mark the anniversary of the "Storming of the Bastille" in Paris on July 14, 1789.
Thousands of spectators join in the celebrations and line the Champs-Elysees to watch the annual Military Parade, followed by fun Street Fairs around the city, and ending in a spectacular Fireworks Display at the Eiffel Tower.
