If you're passionate about Impressionist paintings, you'll love Musée d'Orsay. It's our favorite museum in Paris and well worth a visit.

The building has been transformed from an old rail station into a beautiful museum — daylight streams through the museum's long arched glass roof, giving it an open, spacious, modern look (photo above).

The Musée d'Orsay contains some of the world's finest collections of 19th century art — and a compilation of fine sculptures. To keep ahead of the crowds, we suggest you start at the top level — there are three levels — and work your way down.

Musée d'Orsay's third floor features the Impressionists — Monet, Van Gogh, Renoir, Degas, Manet, and Toulouse-Lautrec.

Be sure to check out the famous Whistler's Arrangement in Gray and Black: Portrait of the Painter's Mother, perhaps better known as Whister's Mother.
