at Buckingham Palace

The Changing of the Guard
The Changing of the Guard takes place at Buckingham Palace. The Guards enter the Palace gates on the left. After the Changing of the Guard takes place (just inside the Palace railings), the guards march out of the gate on the right (see picture below).

For the best views, arrive early and stand at the Palace railings or climb on the base of the fountain/statue in front of the Palace (below). You can also stand to the left or right front sides of the Palace, but be prepared for large crowds, especially during peak tourist season.

March-April (weather permitting) every other day. May thru' July daily.

The Changing of the Guard ceremony lasts for approximately 45 minutes.

Note: The Guard uniforms are Gray in the Winter months and Red in the Spring / Summer months.
