History of London's
Olympic Games
London has hosted the Olympic Games twice — in 1908 and
1948. The 2012 games will be the city's third Olympics, the most
of any
city.
Rome was originally slated to host the 1908 Olympics, however,
after the 1906 eruption of Mt. Vesuvius, the games were
relocated to London.
