Coit Tower Observation Deck
Get a bird's eye view of San Francisco and SF Bay from high atop Coit Tower's circular Observation Deck (pictured below and at right) — it stands 179 feet (and 542 feet above sea level).
See spectacular 360° views of San Francisco and the Bay — Alcatraz Island, Pier 39, Fisherman's
Wharf, the Golden Gate Bridge, Bay Bridge, the Financial District... and more!
Observation Deck Tickets
No reservations are required; however, there is an entrance fee to go up the elevator to the Observation Deck. Tickets can be purchased (at a nominal fee) at the Coit Tower Gift Shop, located just off the lobby's main entrance (pictured below).
Expect to wait in line, especially during busy peak tourist season and weekends — don't worry, it moves quite quickly. The line leads to a small elevator which slowly carries visitors to the Observation Deck — well almost... you still need to climb 37 steep spiral steps (pictured right) and then you're there!
It's quite a workout, especially if you've walked up
the two steep blocks of Filbert Street and the stairway to get to the base of Coit Tower. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and drink plenty of water.
