Crissy Field

Walking path along Crissy Field shoreline with view of Golden Gate Bridge, Crissy Field, San Francisco

Crissy Field is located on the shoreline of San Francisco's historic Presidio — to the southeast of the Golden Gate Bridge, between the Palace of Fine Arts and Fort Point. Named after Major Dana H. Crissy, a military aviator who lost his life in a 1919 cross-country aircraft flight, Crissy Field (along with the entire Presidio), was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1962.

Walking Trails & Stunning Views
Its stunning Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, Angel Island and San Francisco Bay views makes Crissy Field one of the city's most popular destinations — it's our favorite place to take a walk. Tourists and locals alike flock here, especially on weekends and sunny days, to walk their dogs, jog, bicycle, windsurf, swim, sunbathe, or just hang out and people-watch.

The restored 100-acre site of tidal marsh and parkland along the bay shore includes water birds, native plants, walking paths and sandy beaches.
