tiered Pagoda — a symbol of eternal peace — stands
at Peace Plaza, the open space connecting Japantown's Kintetsu and
locals and tourists alike, the long indoor mall is filled
with fabulous sushi bars, restaurants, specialty shops, spas, hotels
Cherry Blossom Festival
In the Springtime, the annual Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival takes place at Japantown and Japan Center (at Post & Buchanan
Over 200,000 people attend this FUN event every
year. Enjoy Traditional Japanese
Music and Dancing, Taiko Drumming, Flower Arranging Demos, Martial Arts, Japanese Cuisine and Cooking
Demos, Arts & Crafts Fair, Live Entertainment, Children's
Activities, and more! 10am-5pm.
The Cherry Blossom Grand Parade features
over 1,500 brightly colored costumed participants including:
Mikoshi (portable shrines), Kimonoed Dancers, Traditional Musicians,
the 2004 Cherry Blossom Queen and her Court, and Marching Bands.
The Parade begins at the Civic Center at 1pm, proceeding up
Polk to Post Street, and ending in Japantown, at Post and Fillmore

— it's filled with wonderful Japanese Restaurants.

If you're taking public transportation, catch the Muni 38-Geary
bus and get off at Laguna Street. Walk north one block to Post
Street and west one block to Buchanan Street.
Japantown Center Garage is located at 1610 Gearly Blvd. Garage
entrances are on Geary between Webster and Laguna, Fillmore between
Geary and Post, and Post between Webster and Laguna.
